Cocktail Samosa is a bite-sized version of samosas which is famous all over India. This 5pm classy snack is amazing with its small size and has sumptuous taste.  The super awesome Cocktail Samosa has a crunchy crust and soft potato filling. You can easily eat a minimum of 4 samosas at a time.

Here, we are explaining the step by step preparation method of Cocktail Samosa. When served with tamarind chutney, the dish is fantabulous and taste goes beyond words can explain.

Ingredients required:

For outer crust preparation;

All purpose flour: 1 cup

Semolina: 1tbsp

Refined oil/Ghee: 2 tbsp

Lukewarm water: ¼ cup + 1 tbsp

Salt: as required

 

For filling preparation;

 

Potato: 1 cup (boiled and mashed)

Green peas: a cup (boiled)

Onion: 2 tsp (grated)

Green chilli: 2 no’s chopped

Jeera/ Cumin seeds: 1 tsp

Coriander seeds: 1 ½ tsp

Fennel seeds: 1 ½ tsp

Ginger-garlic paste: 1 ½ tsp

Turmeric powder: 1/3 tsp

Mustard seeds: 1 tsp

Salt: to taste

Refined Oil: for frying

 

Preparation Method:

 

Dough for crust;

Step 1: Take a bowl and add flour, semolina, ghee/oil, water and salt and knead it well.

Atep2: Make soft dough adding enough water.

Step3: Keep the dough aside for 10-15 minutes.

 

Filling;

Step 1: Take a thick bottomed pan and keep it on low flame and add some refined oil(approx 2tsp).

Step 2: When the oil boils, add all the seeds and sauté well.

Step 3: Add green chilli and grated onion to it and again sauté for a while.

Step 4: Now, add the mashed potato and green peas and salt as required to the pan and mix well.

Step 5: Sauté for few minutes on low flame and turn off the flame.

Step 6: Place the mixture into another bowl.

 

Frying;

 

Step 1: You need little water for wetting the sides of samosa sheets. So keep it ready

Step 2: Take the dough and knead it once more.

Step 3: Take lemon-sized amount of dough and roll it to make thin sheets.

Step 4: Cut the sheet you get after rolling into two equal halves.

Step 5: Wet the sides of the sheet with very little amount of water.

Step 6: Fold the sheet and make it to form a cone.

Step 7: Fill the cone with the filling we have prepared and press down with very low pressure.

Step 8: Close the side of the samosa to form a triangular shape.

Step 9: Add refined oil into a frying pan and when it boils, place the samosas one by one into the oil.

Step 10: Fry till the crust become golden brown and remove from oil and keep aside for removing the excess grease.
